2016 - Case Study of Problems and Their Solutions for Making Quality Jewelry Using Selective Laser Melting (SLM) Technology

$0.00

SLM technology, originally designed for the dental industry, is increasingly spreading to other sectors such as jewelry. Although numerous insights on the technology and its potential are available in the literature, this paper presents a case study of the possible problems that may occur during the production of jewelry products and how to address them, creating a database of events and thereby increasing the operative know-how. Because SLM technology is mature enough for small-scale production, there is interest in evaluating the parameters to manage it and the areas for improvement in the daily use of this process. The main objective of this paper, therefore, is to give useful problem-solving insights into a relatively new technology in order to effectively deal with either hardware or software drawbacks.
