It is well known that rubber molds cutting is a very important step in the lost wax casting process. In my opinion, mold cutting is a job in its own and requires a very deep knowledge of the materials available, their use and the various cuts and separations. With this article, my objective is to share my knowledge and expertise on this matter, including the following key elements: materials and their uses; different mold frames; primer objectives of mold cutting; vulcanizing, curing or hardening systems; air release cutting systems; use of release spray or powder; mold storage and maintenance; and a short introduction to wax injection.
